Inside is the A19 Pro chip, the same silicon found in the Pro models, with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine, giving the Air plenty of performance headroom despite its slim profile. It's also the first iPhone to use Apple's own C1X cellular modem, an in-house design paired with the new N1 wireless chip that handles Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and second-generation Ultra Wideband — a meaningful step in Apple building more of its own connectivity hardware in-house.
Battery life is understandably the biggest engineering challenge of a phone this thin, and Apple rates it at up to 27 hours of local video playback, or up to 40 hours if you add the optional iPhone Air MagSafe Battery for extended trips away from a charger. Fast charging gets you to 50% in about 30 minutes with a compatible adapter. You still get IP68 water and dust resistance, Crash Detection, and the full suite of satellite safety features, including Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My.
Storage runs from 256GB up to 1TB, and the USB-C port supports standard USB 2 speeds — a reasonable trade-off given how much Apple has packed into such a thin design.
